Breast Asymmetry

Asymmetric breasts are different in size, whether it’s in form, position, or volume. Breast asymmetry affects about 50% of women at some time during their lifetime, particularly during adolescence. Because asymmetries during adolescence tend to even out over time, surgical correction is best in patients who have already completed puberty.
Asymmetric breasts can be caused by hormonal changes, traumatic injuries, or an underlying medical/skeletal condition. Breasts can be surgically corrected by making the large breast smaller via a breast reduction or the small breast larger with breast augmentation using a saline or silicone implant. A breast lift, areola reconstruction or breast implants in both breasts may be required to achieve desired results.
These treatments are generally performed as an outpatient procedure under local anesthesia with sedation; general anesthesia may be recommended.

Surgery: 1 to 3 hours, depending on treatment(s) required

Recovery: 3 days to 1 week to return to work.

Average Cost: Depends on treatment.
